The Rocket Racing V28.30 update brings a new Speed Run mode to the blend of Rocket League and Fortnite racing, along with a host of other exciting additions.

Aside from Speed Run, this update includes the Sprintspark Trail, new Quests, improvements for mobile players, a new car, Xenosplash Boost, and several important bug fixes. Here’s a rundown of all the changes in the Fortnite Rocket Racing V28.30 update.

Details of Rocket Racing Speed Run

Ready to showcase your speed in Rocket Racing? Speed Run challenges you to beat the clock as your ultimate opponent.

Strive to achieve the best possible lap time on variations of popular tracks like Riviera, Anaconda, and Olympus. Each session has a countdown timer giving you ample time to complete multiple laps (“runs”) and plan your ideal route to the finish line!

During your high-speed runs in Speed Run, you’ll encounter your ghost, offering insight into your best run of the match—use this information to rectify errors and trim seconds off your lap time.

Whether in public or private matches, collisions with other players are disabled in Speed Run, allowing you to focus solely on your lap times. However, drafting by catching slipstreams and starting line boosts are not available in this mode.

Your fastest lap time on a track will be posted on the track’s Season leaderboard, enabling you to compare your skills with drivers worldwide. Additionally, there’s a friends leaderboard for competing with your Epic friends and bragging rights! Remember, leaderboards refresh each season.

To access this new mode, select a track in the Speed Run row or pick the Speed Run playlist with rotating tracks in Rocket Racing.

Exciting Quests

Embark on thrilling Speed Run Kickoff Quests after completing runs in Speed Run mode. The first quest completion unlocks the new Sprintspark Trail, while the subsequent quests offer 13 paint colors for the Sprintspark.

The Speed Run Kickoff Quests will run up to March 26, 2024, at 12 AM ET.

Enhancements for Mobile Players

v28.30 brings additional improvements to the mobile gaming experience:

  • The touchscreen D-pad has been replaced with a touchscreen joystick, enhancing driving precision. You can customize the joystick sensitivity in the settings.
  • The mobile HUD visuals have been updated.

Introduction of Diestro to Fortnite

The retro-looking Diestro Car Body packs modern power! Take it for a ride in Rocket Racing and other Fortnite adventures. Acquire the Diestro Car Bundle from the Shop, which includes:

  • Diestro Car Body (featuring 13 paint colors)
  • Chitchat Decal
  • Lozano Decal
  • Old Flame Decal
  • Sooo Fly Decal
  • Stripes Decal
  • Stuntman Decal

The decals in the Diestro Car Bundle are exclusive to the Diestro Car Body. If you own the Diestro and the Decals in Rocket League, they will be accessible in your Fortnite Locker due to cross-game ownership. Purchasing the Diestro Car Bundle in Fortnite grants you its contents in Rocket League.

Xenosplash Boost

Lost in the racing world? The Xenosplash Boost arrives in the Fortnite ecosystem as part of the Xenosplash Boost Bundle, offering the Boost alongside 13 unique paint colors.

If you’re feeling fancy, consider pairing this Boost with the Lustrum X10 Wheels, making their debut in Fortnite. These Wheels, available in the Shop via the Lustrum X10 Wheels Bundle, come in 12 different paint colors!

Similar to Diestro, the Xenosplash Boost and Lustrum X10 Wheels are eligible for cross-game ownership.

Notable Enhancements and Bug Fixes

  • Introducing the Air Roll mechanic! Hold the left trigger button while midair (or spacebar on PC) to perform an Air Roll, allowing for aerial spins. You can combine this with thrusters for aerial maneuvers. Send us your feedback on this advanced feature.
  • Several Quests have been adjusted to progress through Speed Run, Racing, or both modes. Quest descriptions have been updated accordingly.
  • Improvements have been made to grounded collisions to prevent getting stuck when hitting the environment. Further enhancements will follow as necessary.
  • Enhanced checkpoint crossing times and exposed an additional millisecond digit on the scoreboard for precise time tracking.
  • The minimum speed required for aerial demolitions has been matched to the grounded demolishing speed (400 KPH).
  • Obtaining a new drift boost while an existing one is active will now provide the full impulse for a brief period, rather than merely adding to the existing effect. Previously, smaller drift boosts were only half as effective as the current one.
  • Visual improvements have been made to the steering of wheels during drifting.
  • Bonus speed can no longer be gained from a speed pad if your car already has an active speed bonus from the same pad. However, stacking speed bonuses from various pads is still possible.
  • A bug causing cars to sometimes reverse launch after performing a lateral air dodge following an aerial drift has been resolved.

That covers all the details of the Fortnite Rocket Racing Update V28.30. Exciting changes are on the horizon for the game, with hopes of introducing a wealth of new content at the end of the season, including Season 1. For more Rocket Racing guides, you can explore our Guide Hub.
