Will Overwatch 2 have crossplay or cross-progression?
On June 12, 2022, Blizzard officially announced that Overwatch 2 will support crossplay across multiple platforms and enable players to carry over progress between these platforms, making the game more accessible and allowing for seamless gameplay continuity.
According to Blizzard’s statement: “Featuring a new five-versus-five multiplayer format with cross-platform play and cross-platform progression, Overwatch 2’s PvP experience is designed to offer incredible and fresh competitive gameplay with a new, free-to-play model, and major game updates such as new heroes, hero reworks, maps, modes, and premium cosmetics.”
Crossplay connects players across different platforms, allowing PC users to play with console players and enabling interactions between different console platforms like Nintendo Switch with Xbox and PlayStation with PC.
On the other hand, cross-progression allows you to switch from playing Overwatch 2 on your PS5 to a PC, seamlessly continuing your progress without any setbacks.
These additions bring great joy to fans, especially those who enjoyed the beta, and these new features are accessible to all players as the game is free-to-play.
