An upcoming release in the popular life simulation game series, The Sims 5, is currently in active development. During a recent playtest, participants managed to datamine the entire map of the game.

The Sims 5 is the latest addition to Maxis’ renowned franchise known for its unique features like encounters with the Grim Reaper and clever ladder tricks in pools. Players in a recent playtest had the chance to explore the game’s new map; however, the entire map was datamined by some of the participants, revealing a different design compared to previous versions.

The Sims 5 Full Map Has Been Revealed

A Reddit user named DzXAnt22, claiming to be a playtester for the game, leaked information about the map. According to them, Maxis is basing the map design on Paris’ city center, and it is anticipated to be an open-world map. While the portion they played was limited, they believe that players will have extensive freedom to explore the map similar to what was possible in Sims 3. They noted the absence of a travel feature found in Sims 4, where players can move between locations, and no references to “traveling” to other lots or locations.

The possibility of The Sims 5 returning to the open-world style of Sims 3 could provide a more immersive experience, considering the relatively closed-off towns of Sims 4. However, it’s important to note that this leak is not a confirmation of the game being open world. DzXAnt22 mentioned that the build they played is over a year old, and changes may have occurred since then. The leaked map image below indicates the area playtesters were able to explore, marked in red.

Other details shared by DzXAnt22 include the internal codename for the game, currently known as Project Rene. They also highlighted the game’s smooth performance during their playtest, even when zoomed out. It’s essential to treat this information, along with the images, with cautious optimism.

Though this map leak hints at exciting changes for the series, it’s uncertain what precisely the future holds for The Sims franchise. With a decade having passed since the release of The Sims 4, fans are eager to discover more about the upcoming installment.
