Valorant Episode 7 Act 2 Patch Introduces New Sunset Map and Official Premier Launch

The latest Valorant patch, 7.04 (Episode 7 Act 2), is now live, bringing various enhancements, modifications, and new features to the popular shooter game developed by Riot.

The highlight of this update is the new map, which was unveiled at the Valorant Champions 2023 finals. Inspired by Los Angeles, the map features three lanes and two sites. For the first week, there will be a dedicated queue for this map in Swiftplay mode. After that, it will be added to the Competitive and Unrated map rotation queues in the next patch, scheduled for the following week.

In addition to the new map, the update includes several changes aimed at improving game state clarity. Riot has made adjustments to the user interface, making it easier for players to understand in-game events. Almost half of the game’s roster has been updated, and the new Premier mode, previously in beta, is now officially available. Players who participated in the Ignition Stage of Premier will have their match histories and teams transferred over. Registration for Premier is open until September 7, with match events running from that date until October 21, followed by playoffs starting on October 22.

While Patch 7.04 comprises changes for more than half of the characters, the modifications are mainly concentrated on enhancing game state clarity through the following adjustments: 

  • Reducing the area of effect of ultimates
  • Shortening the lifespan of utility in the game world
  • Decreasing the HP of shootable utility
  • Updating Ultimate cost to better balance high-impact ultimates

While these changes may seem minor, they aim to improve overall game state clarity and provide more opportunities for players to demonstrate their skills.

    • Maximum time while casting reduced from 2.5s to 2s

    • Health of Seeker reduced from 150 to 120


  • Recon Bolt (E)
    • Total scans decreased from 3 to 2

Map Updates

Rotation of Maps

  • Breeze will be added back to the Competitive and Unrated map pool.
  • Note that Pearl and Fracture have been removed from the Competitive and Unrated map rotation.

Introduction of New Map: Sunset

  • The new Sunset map features three lanes and two sites.
  • Dedicated queue for Sunset will be available in Swiftplay mode for the first week, and later added to Competitive and Unrated map rotations in Patch 7.05.

Player Behavior Updates

Improvements to the Report User Interface

  • Improved readability with icons and detailed text descriptions when hovering over them
  • Grouped post-game reports to assist decision-making
  • Included reportee info to reduce false reports

Premier Updates

Premier has officially launched!

  • Data from Premier’s Ignition Stage will be carried over for participants
  • Registration is open until September 7, with specific end times varying by Zone
  • Weekly matches will include the complete competitive map selection over seven weeks, starting on September 7
  • Achieve a Premier Score of at least 675 to qualify and potentially be one of the top teams in your Division
  • Divisions are now divided into five tiers: Open, Intermediate, Advanced, Elite, and Contender

Bug Fixes


  • Fixed a bug where Sage’s Barrier Orb (C) would break when placed between doors

Gameplay Systems

  • Fixed a glitch where getting killed on the ziplines of Fracture would cause the player’s avatar to appear in Spawn

Player Behavior

  • Fixed a bug where pressing the play key on the keyboard would inadvertently transmit voice, even with no keybinds set


  • If a match goes into sudden death after overtime, the timeline now correctly shows the sudden death round

Known Issues

In relation to Premier

  • Occasionally, a team may be prompted to vote for Overtime Priority multiple times in a row
