AyaNeo Unveils Advanced Retro Mini PC AM02 with Impressive Upgrades

Tech company AyaNeo has introduced its latest offering in compact computing: the AM02 Retro Mini PC. Scheduled to be available in late February, this highly anticipated device follows the success of its predecessor, the AM01, which was released just last year. The AM02 comes with significant upgrades in its specifications and showcases a new design inspired by the iconic Super Nintendo Entertainment System, departing from the vintage Macintosh computer design of the previous model.

The key to the AM02’s remarkable capabilities lies in its AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS processor. Customers can choose between 16GB and 32GB configurations of cutting-edge DDR5 RAM. Storage options range from 512GB to 1TB, and for tech enthusiasts interested in customization, AyaNeo offers a ‘barebones’ version ideal for building NAS devices or experimenting with custom software.

Having used the AM01 as my primary computer for an extended period, it’s worth noting that, while awaiting our complete review, it generally falls short in performance compared to other mini PCs in its price range. However, the AM02 addresses this by offering improved performance, making the AM01 seem somewhat outdated.

The inclusion of the AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS processor along with fast 5200MHz DDR5 RAM promises significant enhancements in gaming capabilities. While the previous generation may struggle with the latest games, the AM02 features an onboard AMD Radeon 780M graphics processor with the latest RDNA 3 architecture, enabling smooth gameplay of demanding titles like Elden Ring and Baldur’s Gate 3. Additionally, its updated exterior design moves away from the Mac-like style of the AM01.

Catering to modern performance needs and nostalgia for classic gaming, the AM02 stands out with cutting-edge internals and a vintage aesthetic reminiscent of the beloved SNES. It also surprises with a 4-inch touchscreen that serves as both a system monitor and interactive control panel.

The AM02 is set for release in February, with an active IndieGogo campaign currently in progress to support its launch.

Priced between $499 and $799, the cost of the AM02 will vary based on the specific hardware configuration chosen by the buyer.
