Modern Warfare 2 Season 3 start date
Infinity Ward are yet to announce when Modern Warfare 2 Season 3 begins officially, but we’re expecting it to get underway on Wednesday, April 12, 2023. This is when the Season 2 Battle Pass is set to expire, indicating that the new season will begin on the same day.
Big updates like this one usually go live at around 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET / 5 PM BST, so we anticipate that the same will be true this time around.
However, as we saw with Season 2, the devs are happy to delay if they’re not quite ready, so we’ll be sure to update this section as soon as more details are available.
FJX Imperium Intervention Sniper confirmed for MW2 Season 3
The Intervention is finally arriving in Modern Warfare 2 Season 3. After the iconic Sniper Rifle was leaked through a datamine, the devs confirmed that Modern Warfare 2 2009’s Intervention, also known as the FJX Imperium in the 2022 title, will arrive via the Season 3 Battle Pass.
Players can expect to unlock the FJX Imperium with Battle Pass Tokens once Season 3 arrives. There are usually at least two weapons that appear in the Battle Pass, so we’ll let you know which weapon will arrive alongside the Intervention when it’s announced.
Pelayo’s Lighthouse 6v6 map Modern Warfare 2 Season 3
When the devs revealed that the Intervention would return in Season 3, they also provided a teaser for a new 6v6 map called Pelayo’s Lighthouse.
Pelayo’s Lighthouse appeared in a teaser for Modern Warfare 2 Season 3, therefore it’s safe to expect the map to arrive with the next update. The new 6v6 map features a dark terrain with a rainy atmosphere and tons of fog.
Content creator FaZe Dirty was invited to test out the new map and Sniper Rifle at the Infinity Ward studios and gameplay footage has revealed that Pelayo’s Lighthouse features an Easter Egg from MW2 2009. It seems as though the main indoor building from the Estate map is featured in Pelayo’s Lighthouse.
Whether Pelayo’s Lighthouse is the only map arriving in Season 3 remains to be seen, but we’ll keep you posted with the latest news.
Gunfight returns in Modern Warfare 2 Season 3
Alongside the launch of Season 2, Infinity Ward confirmed that the Gunfight mode will arrive during Modern Warfare 2 Season 3.
This popular playlist was first introduced in Modern Warfare 2019, pitting squads of two against one another in a bite-sized deathmatch that lasts just 40 seconds. 1v1 and 3v3 variants were also added later, and the mode featured in Black Ops Cold War as well as CoD Mobile.
It was noticeably missing from Modern Warfare 2’s launch, but it’s set to return in Season 3 complete with its own maps. The devs also confirmed that new Gunfight maps will arrive in each new season.
Modern Warfare 2 Season 3 expected content
