10 Best Weapons In Modern Warfare 2 Season 1 Reloaded

Modern Warfare 2 Season 1 Reloaded is winding down and now is the perfect time to look at which weapons have increased in popularity. Here are the top 10 most popular guns in Modern Warfare 2, as of January 24.

Modern Warfare 2 Season 2 is set to arrive on February 15 after the devs announced a slight delay. The delay will give players more time to try out the over 50 weapons in Modern Warfare 2.

Before the Season 2 update shakes up the Modern Warfare 2 meta with buffs, nerfs, and new weapons, we’ll take a look at the most popular weapons in the game. The most popular weapons are usually not only powerful but also easy to use, which makes them hard to ignore in Modern Warfare 2.

Most popular guns in Modern Warfare 2

Warzone stats site wzranked compiles Modern Warfare 2 data as well, and by analyzing said data we can discern which weapons are the most popular in the game.

Here are the 10 most popular weapons in Modern Warfare 2 Season 1 Reloaded.

10. Kastov 762 – 2.5%

The Kastov 762 surprisingly only sneaks into the top 10. Given how powerful and steady the weapon is, you might be surprised to see that it hasn’t found its way further down this list. This goes to show that Modern Warfare 2 Assault Rifle options are phenomenal and a 2.5% pick rate is nothing to scoff at.

With the best attachments, the Kastov 762 is a laser beam of an AR that’s perfect for holding down lanes in Hardpoint or Domination.

9. Signal 50 – 2.7% – Most popular Sniper Rifle in MW2

The Signal 50 is technically the most popular Sniper Rifle in Modern Warfare 2 with a 2.7% pick rate. However, two Marksman Rifles have it beat in terms of popularity and while they’re categorized as such, they’re mainly used as Sniper Rifles.

The good news is that the Signal 50 contrasts greatly with the two lighter Marksman Rifles. It’s a semi-automatic heavy Sniper that deals a ton of damage. It won’t feel as snappy as some other options but its popularity stems from its dominance in stationary positions.

8. Lachmann Sub – 2.9%

The Lachmann Sub resembles the famed MP5 which is one of the most iconic weapons in the Call of Duty franchise. Therefore it’s no surprise to see it claim the eighth spot with a 2.9% pick rate.

Originally, it was the most dominant weapon in the beta, but as players spent more time with the Lachmann Sub they realized that some weapons outclassed it. Nonetheless, it’s still a lightning-quick option with excellent damage range in Modern Warfare 2.

7. M4 – 3.2%

The M4‘s 3.2% pick rate ties it with the next weapon on this list. It can be viewed as the best of the rest and it’s been a consistent fan-favorite since the launch of Modern Warfare 2.

As with other M4 weapons in the franchise, Modern Warfare 2’s M4 is the pinnacle of versatility and balance. It will perform to a high standard in a variety of situations. It has the mobility and ADS speed to be quick and clean in close quarters, alongside the stability and power to take out targets at long range.

6. Fennec 45 – 3.2%

The Fennec’s popularity in Modern Warfare 2 stems from its dominance in Warzone 2. Since the launch of Warzone 2, the Fennec 45 SMG has been the undisputed number one SMG option.

Players flocked to Modern Warfare 2 to level up the weapon and its 3.2% pick rate proves that some stuck with it even after the grind. It kills incredibly quickly, but it’s not without a wild recoil pattern that will require some expert hands to tame.

5. SP-R 208 – 5.2%

The SP-R 208 is the first of two Marksman Rifles to appear on the list and it lands among the top 5 most popular weapons in Modern Warfare 2 with a 5.2% pick rate. Players love their quickscoping loadouts and you can certainly build the SP-R 208 with maximum speed in mind.

It’s one of the first weapons that players unlock at level 7 which further adds to its popularity and it certainly is satisfying to pull off a few kills with the SP-R 208 in quick succession.

4. SA-B 50 – 6.1% – Most popular Marksman Rifle in MW2

The SA-B 50 follows up the SP-R 208 with a 6.1% pick rate. It claims the title of the most popular Marksman Rifle in Modern Warfare 2 and players who gravitate to Sniper Rifles absolutely love it.

It belongs to the same weapon platform as the SP-R 208 and it has similar qualities as a result. The SA-B 50 boasts impressive speed and maneuverability, but it also has incredible precision, which sets it apart from the SP-R 208.

3. Kastov-74u – 8.4%

The Kastov-74u was considered so powerful at the start of Modern Warfare 2 that it was banned in the CDL. Despite it not appearing in CDL matches, the Kastov-74u remains one of the most used weapons in the game with an 8.4% pick rate.

You’ll notice that there’s a major jump in popularity from fourth to third and this comes down to just how dominant the top three weapons are in Modern Warfare 2.

Despite being classified as an Assault Rifle, the Kastov-74u is best used as an SMG. Its incredibly fast TTK and impressive speed, make it impossible to deal with in close quarters.

2. Vanzev-9k – 9.4% – Most popular SMG in MW2

The Vaznev 9-k is another weapon that absolutely dominates close-range gunfights in Modern Warfare 2. However, experienced players can also make the weapon dominate at medium range. This unexpected versatility makes it difficult to ignore and with a 9.4% pick rate, only one weapon has it beat in terms of popularity.

The Vaznev is currently the meta SMG weapon in the CDL. Therefore it should continue its dominance in Modern Warfare 2’s Ranked Play mode.

1. TAQ-56 – 10.1% – Most popular weapon in MW2

The TAQ-56 is the most popular weapon in Modern Warfare 2 with a dominant 10.1% pick rate. It’s the only weapon to hit a double-digit pick rate and the Assault Rifle modeled after the classic Scar is not going anywhere in Season 2.

Much like the Vaznev, the TAQ-56 is the meta Assault Rifle option for CDL pros and will continue to shine in Ranked Play.

This Assault Rifle will feel familiar and nostalgic to players with its unique and clean iron sight that positions players in its deadly ring.

The TAQ-56 is also supremely easy to control. It doesn’t have a substantial weapon kick, which will allow you to hit all of your shots. If you do manage to hit your shots, you’ll notice an incredibly quick TTK at a variety of ranges.
